C M P0 4 The arrowed objects are tyrosine crystals. Tyrosine crystals are rare and their presence in urine is always abnormal. They form clusters of silky needle-like structures that are colorless, or black on focusing. Tyrosine crystals are found in acid urine, increase after refrigeration, and are insoluble in alcohol or ether. They are soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid, alkali and relatively heat soluble. An orange color reaction with the nitrosonaphthol test is confirmatory.
